TSX ends higher after RBC results

DEAR ABBY: My wife and I have been married for five years. I recently discovered that she made between 10 and 20 porn videos when she was 19. We got married when she was 27. We have four kids from two previous marriages.I am devastated. When I confronted her about it, she cried harder than I had ever seen. She said she was lost, and it's the biggest regret of her entire life.I understand how hard it can be to tell someone you have done something like this. I haven't led a perfect life either, and I have my own skeletons and things that I would never mention. But still, I can't get over this. ...

Oprah Winfrey recently announced at the annual conference of O magazine that she had experienced a breast cancer scare, shocking audience members including her best friend Gayle King. When Winfrey related this fact to the crowd, King became perturbed, because she had not been previously informed by her closest pal of this troubling milestone.

In a dramatic scene that took place in front of thousands in a packed auditorium,?The New York Times reports that:

When Ms. King grew visibly upset, one woman chided Ms. Winfrey for not telling her friend ahead of time and ordered her to apologize to Ms. King ? all before an audience. Ms. Winfrey also did not hide her dissatisfaction with the criticism she had faced. She told the audience, ?the press tried to cut me off at the knees? in its coverage of OWN, and bristled at questions about the challenges her magazine confronted.

Winfrey?s scare was a false alarm in the end, yet made an interesting launching point for discussing what the future holds for the 58-year-old mogul. According to New York Times writer Christine Haughney, the stakes are high for the billionaire, who seeks to maintain her level of media power while appealing to younger women.

Additionally, as she works to build her OWN network, the future of Winfrey?s magazine remains uncertain without the power of her now-defunct eponymous show buoying it.

RELATED:??Oprah?s Organics? trademark application reveals mogul?s plans for food market

The print publication has experienced a roughly 22 percent decline in newsstand sales since the end of Winfrey?s broadcast television program, The Oprah Winfrey Show, which ran for 25 years.?If business constraints demand it, Winfrey might shutter the glossy that bears her image on the cover every month.??Obviously, the show was helping in ways that you know I hadn?t accounted for,? Winfrey told the Times. ?I?m not interested, you know, in bleeding money.?

Despite these challenges, the luminary is confident that she can make the transition to promoting positive messages in her remaining platforms. Oprah currently attracts a middle-aged crowd, which is not good for expanding her business. Yet, younger fans will come, Winfrey believes, because she is totally focused on the sincerity of her uplifting content.

?You?re never going to run out of people who are looking for a more joyful life,? she concluded.

Sonora Wedding at Union Hill Inn from En Pointe Photography

There are many, MANY reasons to fall in love with this gorgeous Sonora wedding ? the perfectly crafted DIY details, the vibrant pink hues, the utterly beautiful fabric bouquets (just to name a few) ? but all it took was one look at the breathtaking Union Hill Inn?setting and I was done for. ?In a big way. ?Because this isn?t just any wedding venue, it?s a garden-like paradise with a rustic meets dreamy chapel and a laid back elegance that is crazy amazing. ?En Pointe Photography?captured every moment and the gallery is delivering some serious pretty. ?See it all here.

Click here for the FULL wedding!

And a beautiful film from?Ipomoea Films?to cap off the day. ?Enjoy!

From the Bride? We really lucked out because both of us fell in love with the homey feeling that captures you as soon as you drive onto the property of Union Hill. There are multiple gazebos, a reception hall and a chapel all spread out amongst ponds with cattails, weeping willows, arches of tiny pink roses and irises of all colors! The owners, Barb and Don Stutzman were nothing but easy to work with as well, so that helped make it an easy decision! I knew that I wanted to do a lot of DIY crafts for our wedding that really represented Jeremiah and me, and I loved seeing how the crafts turned out and complement each other! One of my favorite crafts was Oscar the Grouch (in his wedding fur, of course). Both born in 1982, Jeremiah and I decided Oscar?s garbage can would be a fun and unique reminder of one of our favorite characters from Sesame Street! We ?personalized? a garbage can we found at IKEA and attached a paper mache Oscar to the top as our card box. Another craft I loved was making the bouquets for the bridesmaids and me, as well as the corsages for the moms and Jeremiah?s grandmother. After trying many different types of paper and fabric flowers, I settled on a mix of burlap and hand-sewn yellow and pink flowers to complement the decorations in the chapel.

The day went as well as we could have hoped for! Friends and family came from all over the country! Walking down the aisle is an unforgettable moment. Both sets of parents couldn?t have been happier. Members from both families helped decorate the different gazebos and reception hall located at Union Hill, and the final product was stunning. They helped create a photo booth that people had a blast in. We even got Jeremiah?s cousins to cater our cocktail hour from their pizza and pie Food truck! There were activities for all ages and we even had a pinata for the younger guests (as well as some older young-at-heart guests). Our officiant was Dr. Tim Blecha, a family practitioner we had both worked with out in Superior, a rural town in Nebraska. He was our favorite of all the doctors that? we had ever worked with, and as future rural docs ourselves, we could think of no better person to marry us! He had flown all the way with his wife to join in on the festivities and really added to the uniqueness of the ceremony with great, and sometimes embarrassing, anecdotes of both of us as students while working with him. The rest of the evening was just what we wanted ? people getting down on the dance floor! Some may attribute their dance moves to the super moon that was shining in the sky that night, but we think it?s because our friends and family know a good song and how to get their grooves on! Jeremiah and I donned our shirts that we had bought in Boracay, Philippines, earlier in the year. These shirts had designs that were hooked to a battery pack that responded to the beat of the music. Oh, did we have fun with those!

Jeremiah?s mom made us quilt squares that were hung behind our wedding cake to represent our journey from being med students at Creighton to our time as family medicine residents back home in Northern California. Both sides of the family helped decorate Union Hill, so everyone had a great time seeing the fruits of their labor appreciated, especially when it came to the photo booth! Our invitations were mini books that we designed through Minted. We loved the mini books because they allowed us to tell a story and still provide information about the big day. I particularly loved that a lot of the major crafts were handmade. Each bridesmaids? bouquet was different with hand-sewn flowers, and I got comments from other brides-to-be afterward that they were inspired to do DIY crafts themselves! I loved the colors in the bridal party and from the natural beauty of Union Hill! One of my roommates from college helped us mix dough ? in our wedding colors ? for over 400 cookies that we personalized with Williams Sonoma?s Message in a Cookie cookie cutter set. We also had table favors that were mini pinatas that were filled with candy. Each had a table marker with a picture and description of a place Jeremiah and I have traveled to in the past so our guests could get to know us and our love of traveling a little better. The best part was that we had so many of our dear friends and practically all of our family members in attendance! Some people we hadn?t seen in years were there, and it was so heartwarming to share our special day with all of them!

Is market discipline dead? Market discipline as a means to check the systemic risk posed by financial institutions was very much in vogue in financial institution scholarship until the financial crisis. Not any more. There are certainly calls for restraining government bailouts and some interesting work on contingent convertible capital requirements. But, by and large, this pillar seems to have been moved to the back of the financial regulation temple.

Kate Judge (Columbia) has a new paper (forthcoming in the UCLA Law Review) that cuts against this contemporary conventional wisdom. She argues for revisiting and rethinking the idea of interbank discipline ? that is the incentives and capacities of large, complex banks to monitor and check the risk-taking of their counterparties. Here is her abstract:

As banking has evolved over the last three decades, banks have be-come increasingly interconnected. This Article draws attention to an effect of this development that has important policy ramifications yet remains largely unexamined?a dramatic rise in interbank discipline. The Article demonstrates that today?s large, complex banks have financial incentives to monitor risk-taking at other banks, the infrastructure, competence and information to be fairly effective monitors, and mechanisms through which they can respond when a bank changes its risk profile.

The rise of interbank discipline has both positive and negative ramifications from a social welfare perspective. The good news is that self-interested banks may be expected to penalize a bank when it takes excessive risks, thereby deterring such risk taking. The bad news is that the interests of banks and society are not always so well aligned. Other banks, for example, may be expected to reward a bank when it changes its risk profile in a way that increases the probability that the government would bail the bank out rather than allowing it to fail. This is because a bailout protects a bank?s creditors, even though it is socially costly. Interbank discipline may thus encourage banks to alter their activities in ways that increase systemic fragility.

In drawing attention to the powerful yet mixed effects of interbank discipline on bank activity, this Article contributes to a new generation of scholarship on market discipline. Its aim is not to question whether we need regulation, but to address the pressing issue of how we should allocate inherently finite regulatory resources. It suggests that by reducing the regulatory resources devoted to activities that other banks are performing relatively well, increasing the resources devoted to activities that regulators are uniquely situated or incentivized to address, and seeking to counteract the adverse effects of interbank discipline, bank oversight could be redesigned to more effectively promote the stability of the financial system.

The paper is a valuable springboard for talking about the flip side of bank ?interconnectedness? ? not merely as transmission lines for contagion, but as a crucial feature of market and regulatory architecture.

November 27, 2012 Ottawa Scientists have discovered that injecting a novel human protein into muscle affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy significantly increases its size and strength, findings that could lead to a therapy akin to the use of insulin by diabetics. These results were published today in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences by Dr. Julia von Maltzahn and Dr. Michael Rudnicki, the Ottawa scientist who discovered muscle stem cells in adults.

"This is an unprecedented and dramatic restoration in muscle strength," says Dr. Rudnicki, a senior scientist and director for the Regenerative Medicine Program and Sprott Centre for Stem Cell Research at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. He is also a Canada Research Chair in Molecular Genetics and professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

"We know from our previous work that this protein, called Wnt7a, promotes the growth and repair of healthy muscle tissue. In this study we show the same types of improvement in a mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. We found that Wnt7a injections increased muscle strength almost two-fold, to nearly normal levels. We also found that the size of the muscle fibre increased and there was less muscle damage, compared to mice not given Wnt7a."

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder that affects one of every 3,500 newborn males. In Canada, all types of muscular dystrophy affect more than 50,000 people. The disease often progresses to a state where the muscles are so depleted that the person dies due to an inability to breath. For people with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, this usually happens in their 20s or 30s.

"This is also exciting because we think it's a therapeutic approach that could apply to other muscle-wasting diseases," says Dr. Rudnicki.

Dr. Rudnicki's lab is a world leader in research on muscle stem cells. They have contributed significantly to our understanding of how these cells work at the molecular level. This basic research, which takes place in OHRI's multidisciplinary environment of collaboration with clinicians, led to the identification of Wnt7a as a promising candidate to help people with this muscle wasting disease.

Biotechnology partner, Fate Therapeutics is currently developing Wnt7a-based therapeutic candidates for treatment of muscular dystrophy and atrophy. Preclinical assessments are ongoing and the company plans to initiate clinical trials in the near future.

HBT: 7 teams interested in free agent Victorino

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that free agent outfielder Shane Victorino is drawing interest from at least seven teams, including the Reds, Indians, Yankees, Rangers, Giants, Rays and Red Sox. While that?s one less than was reported by Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald earlier this month, that?s a pretty healthy market.

Victorino is coming off his worst season in the big leagues, but Heyman hears that several teams are willing to offer him at least three years. That?s what happens when you have extensive experience in center field and represent a cheaper alternative to the likes of Michael Bourn and B.J. Upton. Of course, Victorino wouldn?t be a center fielder for all seven teams listed above, but he has expressed a willingness to play a corner outfield spot if the price is right.

Victorino, who turns 32 on Friday, batted .255/.321/.383 with 11 home runs, 55 RBI and a .704 OPS this past season between the Phillies and Dodgers. He was an excellent 39-for-45 in stolen base attempts.

Attorney General Seeks Tax Break, Debt Relief for Homeowners ...

?

Attorney General George?Jepsen?is leading a national effort by state attorneys general who are urging Congress to extend tax relief for consumers who have mortgage debt canceled or forgiven because of financial hardship or a decline in housing values. ? ? ? ? ? ? ??

Jepsen?co-authored a letter with Florida Attorney General Pamela Bondi, which was signed onto? by 40 other attorneys general and sent today to U.S. House and Senate leaders. It asked the leaders to extend the exclusion, which has been in effect since 2007, and which will otherwise expire on Dec. 31, 2012.?

The expiration comes at a time when many homeowners nationwide are benefitting from the $25 billion national settlement agreement with the nation?s five largest loan servicing companies, which provides $17 billion in debt reduction and other relief to homeowners. Many other banks across the country also offer mortgage modification and debt relief programs.

?I urge Congress to extend this critical tax exclusion so that the very families who can least afford it are not stuck with an unexpected tax bill or deterred from participating in this historic settlement,? Attorney General?Jepsen?said. ?Extension of this tax exclusion is estimated to save taxpayers some $1.3 billion over two years.?

Under the federal Mortgage Debt Relief Act, in effect since 2007, mortgage debt that is forgiven after a foreclosure or short sale or through a loan modification provided to a homeowner in financial hardship may be excluded from a taxpayer?s calculation of taxable income. This exclusion only applies to mortgage debt forgiven on primary residences, not second homes.

?These mortgage modification and debt relief programs provide real relief to homeowners fighting to keep their homes or trying to get back on their feet,? Jepsen?said. ?Unless Congress acts, any debt relief to be provided in 2013 under the National Mortgage Settlement, as well as other mortgage debt relief programs, will likely be considered taxable income.?

An extension is included in the Family and Business Tax Cut Certainty Act of 2012 (S. 3521), which recently passed out of the Senate Finance Committee with bipartisan support.

Attorney General?Jepsen?is a member of the executive committee of attorneys general who helped to negotiate the $25 billion federal-state settlement agreement with the five largest mortgage loan servicing companies and continue to oversee the banks compliance. The agreement, announced in February, took effect in April.

Menifee home to surpass the 'Griswolds' with holiday decorations

By Stephanie D. Schulte, on November 23, 2012, at 8:40 am

One local family is giving the ?Griswolds? a run for their money when it comes to holiday decorations.

One of over 650 holiday themed decorations in the Carnes home. (Contributed image)

With over 650 holiday-themed mini-villages sprinkled throughout their home, the Carnes family has poured its heart and soul into sharing a love of the holidays with thousands of people every year.

?When we lived in Los Angeles, we used to decorate our town home and won a nationwide decorating contest,? Christopher Carnes explained. ?That is how it all began.?

Carnes added that they started by having holiday parties divided into three nights to accommodate both his and his wife?s co-workers and neighbors.

?One year we looked around and realized there were several people in our home that we didn?t know,? Christopher said with a chuckle. ?They had heard about our displays in the news and it just kept growing from there.?

The Carnes moved to Menifee almost 20 years ago and brought their lively holiday spirit and their enormous collection with them.

They open their doors up every year starting the first Saturday in Dec. and hold nightly open houses through Jan. 1.

The unpacking and unwrapping begins in Sept. and the decorating duo keep a steady pace until they unveil their finished masterpiece on opening night.

?We open our home every night at 6 p.m. and we don?t close shop until the last person leaves which is usually around 10:30 p.m.,? Mary Carnes said.

Neighbors and friends chip in to help keep visitors moving along and to help dish out chili, soup and eggnog.

?A neighbor groused around when we invited him to come by and help serve eggnog,? Christopher said. ?He ended up staying the whole night and by the end had tears in his eyes after seeing the joy people feel while being surrounded by the spirit of the holiday.?

Last year over a three-day period, the couple counted almost 4,000 people passing through their home.

A police officer stopped by and told them traffic was backing up on the roads because their home display, they added.

?The officer ended up staying and helping out with crowd control,? Christopher added.

In lieu of buying each other Christmas presents, the family makes assembling the intricate displays and welcoming visitors into their home a priority.

?We make it work,? Mary said. ?The love and the friendship we feel is overwhelming.?

Christopher added the outpouring of love is amazing.

?This is the true spirit of Christmas,? he added.

Admission to their winter wonderland is free, however, they do ask people bring canned goods. The goods are collected throughout the month and are donated to the Menifee Community Cupboard.

?Last year we collected 1,900 pounds of canned goods for people in need. This year we hope to surpass that,? Mary explained.

The couple said ?take-down mode? kicks in on Jan. 2 and that it takes them about a month to disassemble and pack away all of the miniature houses and accessories.

?We take our time putting everything away,? Mary said.

The Carnes? home is located at 30035 Calle Pompeii in Menifee.

Climate change: Believing and seeing implies adapting

ScienceDaily (Nov. 22, 2012) ? To communicate climate change and adaptation to stakeholders such as European forest owners is a challenge. A capacity to adapt to climate change has, until now, mainly been understood as how trees and forest ecosystems can adapt to climate change and which socio-economic factors determine the implementation of adaptive measures.

The new study lead by Kristina Blennow from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), shows, for the first time, the importance of two personal factors; when forest owners believe in and see the effects of climate change, they are more likely to have taken adaptive measures. These two personal factors almost completely explain and predict forest owners' adaptation to climate change.

The paper was published online in the journal PLOS ONE on 21 November 2012.

Knowing what triggers humans to respond to climate change is crucial in communicating climate change policies. Because climate is defined in terms of average weather, climate change has been claimed to have low salience as a risk issue because it cannot be directly experienced. An international team of scientists from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Lund University (Sweden), the Technical University of Lisbon (Portugal), the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL and the University of Freiburg (Germany) present, based on survey data from 845 private forest owners operating across Europe, that a substantial proportion of the respondents strongly believe that they have directly perceived climate change. Furthermore, the researchers present the first evidence that the personal strength of belief and perception of local effects of climate change significantly and almost completely explain and predict their responses to climate change.

The results are ?based on responses to a questionnaire among private forest owners in Sweden, Germany and Portugal. These countries represent a north-south gradient across Europe and cover a wide range of bio-climatic conditions as well as economic-social-political structures. In addition to socio-demographic data (gender, age, size of forest holding etc.), the survey addressed three main questions: how strongly do forest owners believe that climate change will affect their forest, how strongly do they believe that they have experienced local effects of climate change? and have they adapted their forest management in response to climate change? Using statistical models, the collected data was used to simulate estimated expected probabilities of having taken measures to adapt to climate change.

Fifty percent of the forest area in Europe is privately owned. Hence, the results of the study show that the personal climate change belief and perception of those who make decisions for adaptation at the local level strongly influences the adaptive capacity of a substantial proportion of the European forest sector.

The findings of the team of researchers have implications for effective climate change policy communication. They indicate that gathering and disseminating evidence of climate change and its effects could be an efficient strategy to increase people?s perceptions of having experienced climate change and hence to consider the need to take adaptive measures.

Twinkies bakers say they'd rather lose jobs than take pay cuts

KANSAS CITY, Mo./NEW YORK (Reuters) - Enough is enough, say bakery workers at Hostess Brands Inc.

After several years of costly concessions, the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco and Grain Millers Union (BCTGM) authorized a walk-out earlier this month after Hostess received bankruptcy court approval to implement a wage cut that was not included in its contract.

With operations stalled, the company that makes Twinkies and other famous U.S. brands said last week that liquidating its business was the best way to preserve its dwindling cash. It won court approval on Wednesday to start winding down in a process expected to claim 15,000 jobs immediately and over 3,000 more after about four months.

Interviews with more than a dozen workers showed there was little sign of regret from employees who voted for the strike. They said they would rather lose their jobs than put up with lower wages and poorer benefits.

"They're just taking from us," said Kenneth Johnson, 46, of Missouri. He said he earned roughly $35,000 with overtime last year, down from about $45,000 five years ago.

"I really can't afford to not be working, but this is not worth it. I'd rather go work somewhere else or draw unemployment," said Johnson, a worker at Hostess for 23 years.

With 18,500 workers, Hostess has 12 different unions including the BCTGM, which has about 5,600 members on the bread and snack item production lines, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which represents about 7,500 route sales representatives, drivers and other employees.

Unlike some non-unionized rivals, the maker of Wonder Bread and Drake's cakes had to navigate more than 300 labor contracts, with terms that often strained efficiency and competitiveness, Hostess officials have said. In some extreme cases, contract provisions required different products to be delivered on different trucks even when headed to the same place.

Aside from those so-called onerous labor contracts, Hostess has grappled for some time with rising ingredient costs and a growing health consciousness that has made its sugary cakes less popular. It filed for bankruptcy in January, only three years after emerging from a prior bankruptcy.

Lance Ignon, speaking on behalf of Hostess, said the company recognized how difficult the past few years had been for workers and wished it did not have to ask them for more givebacks.

"But the reality was that the company could not survive without those concessions," Ignon said.

FRUSTRATIONS, COMPLAINTS

Workers had a laundry list of frustrations, from rising healthcare costs to decreased wages and delayed pension benefits. They even cited a $10-per-week per worker charge they said Hostess claimed was needed to boost company capital.

"They have taken and taken and taken from us," said Debi White, who has worked at Hostess for 26 years, most recently as a bun handler at its bread and roll plant in Lenexa, Kansas.

"They have been walking around stomping their foot saying either you give in ... or else we're going to close you now. Well, go ahead, we're tired of their threats," she said. "That's how we feel."

Hostess workers are now scrambling to figure out when their health insurance runs out -- or if it already has -- and where and how to apply for job retraining and unemployment benefits.

Following a summer and autumn spent in labor negotiations trying to find a common path to reorganization, Hostess' management gained concessions from some unions, including the Teamsters.

The fear of thousands of job losses, for its own members and other unions, led the Teamsters to plead with the BCTGM to hold a secret ballot to determine if bakery workers really wanted to continue with the strike, even with the threat of closure.

Teamsters officials complained that bakery union leaders did "not substantively look for a solution or engage in the process," and complained that the BCTGM called for its strike on November 9 without first notifying the Teamsters.

They said that, unlike the bakery union, the Teamsters voted to "protect all jobs at Hostess." Teamsters General Secretary-Treasurer Ken Hall said Wednesday's court approval for liquidation marked "a sad day for thousands of families affected by the closing of this company."

Bakery union President Frank Hurt has said that any labor agreements would only be temporary as Hostess was doomed anyway. The union said new owners were needed to get Hostess back on track and the only way they would return to work was if Hostess rescinded its wage and benefit cuts.

"Our membership ... just had no confidence in this management group being able to run a business," said Conrad Boos, a BCTGM local business representative in Missouri.

Hurt was not immediately available to comment on Wednesday but the union said in a court filing its sole objective was to leave Hostess with "a real, rather than an illusory or theoretical, likelihood of establishing a stable business with secure jobs."

On Wednesday, Hostess' lawyer Heather Lennox said the company had received a "flood of inquiries" from potential buyers for several brands that could be sold at auction, and expects initial bidders within a few weeks.

The annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade kicked off in New York, putting a festive mood in the air in a city still coping with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

The young, and the young at heart, were delighted by the sight and sound of bands, performers and, of course, the giant balloons. The sunny weather quickly surpassed 50 degrees. Some parade-goers had camped out to get a good spot, staying snug in sleeping bags. Others came well-prepared with folding chairs.

_____

In Afghanistan, huge hunks of beef greeted the estimated 2,500 diners as soldiers lined up in the dining hall. Red-white-and-blue decorations filled the room. Brochures titled "Learn about combat stress" served as table centerpieces.

There was roast turkey, sliced turkey, ham and rib-eye steaks. The troops were served steaming side dishes of dressing, corn, collard greens, yams and mashed potatoes and gravy that some lapped up with spoons. For dessert, there was a massive cake with a turkey etched in icing, pumpkin spice cookies and scores of pies.

A short walk from the dining hall, service members were playing a modified version of American football.

_____

If shopping is your passion, stores that typically open in the wee hours of the morning on the day after Thanksgiving are now opening their doors on Thanksgiving evening, hoping Americans will be willing to shop soon after they finish their pumpkin pie.

From the strange to the traditional, here's a photo gallery of Thanksgiving celebrations around the world.

This gives customers the ability to communicate as much as they want, no matter which channel prefer ? voice, text, images or Internet,? said at the time Panos Makris, chief commercial officer, Cosmote Romania. The company has not reported so far results have been launched this tariff plan.

discrete step in the same direction ? the operator looks to test market reaction ? was made this week and market leader, Orange ? which launched a new offer for subscription by the company puts in the foreground not hundreds minutes or SMSs they can get customers but unlimited access to a range of services ? from SMS network and outside network to the Internet or music service Deezer.

unlimited services vary depending on the value of the subscription, which from unlimited SMS for Orange subscriptions worth less and reaching unlimited internet access, mobile TV and music service Deezer tariff plans in May expensive.

?The package including subscription, phone compatible with subscription resources and unlimited number of benefits, we wanted to offer our customers holidays more freedom of communication, simplicity and flexibility, ?said Julien Ducarroz, business to consumer chief commercial officer.

Changes in demand

Orange Dolphin tariff plans targeted, Kangaroo and Panther. Dolphin subscription customers ? the cheapest ? they ?got? unlimited SMS network, while subscriptions customers ?Kangaroo? ? which is on a higher tier tariff ? have received unlimited SMS to any national network. Customers most expensive subscriptions ? Panther range ? received unlimited internet access, mobile TV services and online music service Deezer, which provides access to over 20 million songs.

the Vodafone group there is a strategy to launch in some markets subscriptions with unlimited voice and SMS, said in a meeting with analysts and investors Vittorio Colao, chief executive of mobile.

What is the reason for operators to launch such tariff plans? ?Providing customers with subscriptions unlimited voice and SMS reduce threats from over-the-top players (who provide Internet services), because once you unlimited voice and unlimited SMS, there is a huge advantage for use applications such as WhatsApp or Skype. proposal is a very valuable from our customers that simplifies life (?), ?said Vittorio Colao. Customers, says the head of Vodafone, would be able to choose between subscriptions with unlimited voice and SMS without a subsidized phone ? in which case the price will be lower, and such subscriptions plus a subsidized phone ? in which case the rate will be higher, depending on the selected handset. In addition to this option ? to choose or not a subsidized phone ? the main differentiator between tariff plans will be linked to access to mobile internet and cloud. ?All subscriptions include unlimited calls and unlimited SMS, but mobile internet packages will be different from each other, because there will be different levels of use and differences in the speed data services and access to cloud services? said Vittorio Colao.

company RCS & RDS, the local market leader TV and internet service fixed, but the smallest player in the local mobile market has currently produced only unlimited landline calls, but estimated that the same will happen and mobile segment.

?We believe that the Internet is the future. need to create products that voice calls are included in a product with a fixed, because from now on will move Internet voice,? Valentine said recently Popoviciu Development Director operator. RCS & RDS offers such a product landline subscribers, who can call on any network unlimited national fixed for a subscription of 2.5 euro per month.

big question about these new offers will however be linked to rates that will be offered to customers in Romania and to what extent the market will accept and will migrate to this model.

premise is not necessarily optimistic: a Romanian pays on average 5-6 per month for TV services and about 7 euros per month for mobile services. A mobile subscriber pays an average of 13-14 euros per month, while a user is allocated monthly prepay less than 5 euros.

Instead, Cosmote launched tariff plan with unlimited calls to any national network, which does not include unlimited national SMS and has a price of 31 euros. As the first plan of its kind in Romania, COSMOTE tariff plan automatically becomes the reference for landing operators could also launch subscriptions with unlimited voice and SMS ? then the question arises, given the purchasing power of Romanians to what extent there is a consistent group of users ready to step into such a ?scheme?.

What would be the target group for this type of membership, given tier tariff of around 30 euros per month? A Gallup survey published late last year found that approximately 6% of consumer customers of mobile services amounts paid monthly pass ? 100-150 per month. With regard to companies, they pay an average of about 25 subscription per month per user, according to the same source.

At the end of last year in Romania there were 4.78 million individual subscribers to mobile services, which had 6.42 million SIM cards and 740,000 subscribers to the same service firms, which had 2.94 million of senses .

But the price of subscriptions and speed with which these deals will appear on the market depends to a large extent will decrease the pace at which mobile interconnection rates, from 3.07 cents, as they are today. Percentage decrease and the range in which it will be operated will be decided by the Regulatory Authority for Communications of Romania (ANCOM). Consultations on this subject is still in its infancy.
