Motorola Mobility has announced a partnership with Italian airline, Alitalia, that will see the Motorola Xoom 2 start to appear on board Alitalia flights. The on-board crew will have access to the tablets with a custom manifest application built in, on which they can view detailed information about passengers, their meal requests, travel history and any previous 'inconvieniences' -- whatever they might be. The benefit to staff is the ability to have real-time information at their finger tips, as well as easy access to the aircrafts manuals.
Additionally, the Xoom 2 will be introduced into Business and Magnifica class cabins, initially only a selection of mid and long-range flights to Russia and the Middle East that don't currently carry an in-flight entertainment service. Movies, games, magazines, music will all be pre-loaded for passengers to take advantage of.
Back on the ground, the tablets will also start to appear in 10 Alitalia lounges as well. The full presser can be found after the break along with a short, and Italian, promotional video
