The mayor of Myrtle Beach is recovering after having surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain.
City spokesman Mark Kruea says Mayor John Rhodes had surgery on Saturday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The 69-year-old mayor was admitted to another hospital on Thursday and went to MUSC after his blood pressure spiked. Kruea says Rhodes is expected to make a full recovery and should be back in Myrtle Beach early next week.
Rhodes was first elected mayor in 2005 and is currently serving in his second term.
