Women from across the region have the chance to shine this autumn by joining the sensational Starlight Walk in aid of St Giles Walsall Hospice.

This year?s Starlight Walk takes place at 8pm on Saturday 22nd September and is a high-spirited women-only stroll through the streets of Aldridge, with participants completing either one 3.75-mile lap or two laps of the historic village for the full 7.5-mile course.

Hundreds of women are expected to turn up in fancy dress for this fun-filled fundraiser, with individuals, friends, family and work colleagues coming together to enjoy an incredible event while supporting the leading local charity.

Helen Relihan, Head of Fundraising for St Giles Walsall Hospice, says: ?There?s still plenty of time left for women to sign up to the Starlight Walk ? but with places strictly limited, it?s best to act now.

?This poignant evening walk is an ideal way for women of all fitness levels to remember a loved one or to support St Giles on their own or in the company of friends and relatives.

?So if you fancy a night under the stars with hundreds of good-natured women then join the Starlight Walk today and make a valuable contribution towards supporting the local people who rely on St Giles Walsall Hospice.?

The Starlight Walk is open to women aged 16 or over and entry is ?15 per person, with every participant receiving well-earned hot food and drink at the end of the course. Everyone who registers will receive a special sponsorship pack, which includes fundraising ideas, training tips and much more.

St Giles Hospice is a registered charity offering high-quality specialist care free of charge for people living with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and carers.

Patients come from across the hospice?s catchment area, which ranges from Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Atherstone in the east, to Cannock and Walsall in the west ? and from Burton and Uttoxeter in the north, to Sutton Coldfield and Coleshill in the south.

Care is offered at St Giles Walsall Hospice in Goscote and at the hospice?s other facilities in Whittington and Sutton Coldfield, as well as in patients? own homes across the region.

The total annual running costs of St Giles Walsall Hospice are ?1.6 million and with only half of this amount funded by the NHS in the first year, St Giles Walsall Hospice will work with the local community to raise ?800,000 a year.
